Come travel with me on this tour through time, year by year, past forests, along our streets and roads. We'll meet some old residents, see some long gone places, and watch the landscape change as we journey along this
Tri-County Time Line
Through this section of the site I hope to direct your attention to elements of the world your ancestor lived in. While some of the information categorized here is already on the site, this puts it, and more, into a chronological sequence that may sort it out a bit better and encourage you to dig deeper for the details. People starting out in genealogy are focussed on collecting the names, and the dates of births, death, and marriages of their ancestors. That's a good start, but in the past, as now, life is more complex than that. There's a living to make, a social life to experience, health matters to deal with,  places to go and people to see. The more advanced researcher wants to understand her / his ancestors as people like themselves, adapting to their environment.  Tri-Counties site has been developed to show the world the people lived in so that we can understand them as more than names with a few vital dates. Here is their world.

Do you have a time related artifact or story you'd like to share for this section of the site? Please submit to Joyce M. Tice for inclusion. This section of the site is being developed as a series of sequential time capsules similar to the already existing 1900 Museum on the site. It will include dated events and artifacts gleaned from many sources including some already on the site. While this time line will focus on events within the three counties of the site, state, national and international events that affected our population will also be included. Events may also be included to show the contrast of levels of development in different places at the same time. If you find a dated element on the site or elsewhere that you think should be included, drop me a note about it telling me where you found the information so that I can cite it.

Just as the site's eighty township pages arrange the contents of the site by place, this section will serve a similar function arranging it in time order so that we can develop a better sense of how the world was in a particular era.  We will learn  the ways in which one year differed from another as our culture and technology changed. No page of this section of the site will ever be finished as new items can and will be added continually to enhance the full representation of life in that time.

Text documents can be submitted in MS word or, if short, in the text of your email - no fancy formatting. Photos should be submitted in HIGH RESOLUTION jpg format. Photos sent in in low resolution are not used as often as it is too difficult to edit them. Don't be stingy with the pixels. Of particular value to this section are abstracts from any of our local newspapers. If you have them, please share them. As always, cite your sources. Genealogy & History without full source documentation is fiction.
