These people were the local populace at a particular time. The people buried here knew each other, were neighbors, relatives and school mates. They attended church together and engaged in "trade" or business. All people are listed in alphabetic order by surname at BIRTH. Women identified by a married alias only and for whom a birth surname can not be identified, are listed on the last page for the cemetery's obituaries. PACKARD Clement D.
Age 76, of Cayuga Drive in Big Flats, died at home unexpectedly on Jan. 12,
2009. Clem was born May 1, 1932 in Sayre, PA, the son to the late Francis and
Elsie (Radley) Packard. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet in 2007. Clem is
survived by his daughter, Brenda Packard of Renton, WA; son, Bruce Packard of
Punta Gorda, FL; sisters, Margaret Packard of Horseheads, NY and Patricia
Kaskie of Forest, MS; and brother, Kenneth Packard also of Horseheads, NY. Clem
was a resident of the Big Flats Community since 1963. He was retired from
Corning Inc., where he was an export distribution specialist. In his spare
time, he enjoyed reading many types of literature and also liked to collect
many types of literature as well. Family and friends are invited to call at the
Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads on Monday, January 19, 2009,
from 4-6:00 p.m. His service will take place there at the funeral home on
Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Anne L. Mowery to officiate. His interment
will follow beside his late wife, Janet, in Maple Grove Cemetery.

DOUGLAS L. PACKARD, age 71 of County Route 16, Beaver Dams (Monterey) died very unexpectedly Wednesday, July 30, 1997 at Schuyler Hospital. Douglas was born on June 12, 1926 in Burlington Flats, NY and was the son of the late Joseph and Loretta Jenkins Packard. He faithfully served in the United States Army during WW II and married Cynthia Williams on March 22, 1947 in Elmira. He enjoyed auto mechanics and operated his own business in Breesport for 15 years known as the Packard Garage. Douglas also took great enjoyment in woodworking. Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years Cynthia Packard; his daughter, Linda Packard of Breesport, NY; his sister, Helen Herman of Dryden, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, August 2, 1997 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, 14 East Pulteney St., Corning, NY at 1 p.m. with John Knapp officiating. PACKARD Kenny A.
Age 83, of Horseheads, died May 18, 2010 at Bethany Village, where he had been
residing. Kenny was born Oct. 27, 1926 in Sayre, PA, the son to the late
Francis and Elsie (Radley) Packard. He was predeceased by his brother, Clement
and is survived by his sisters Margaret Packard of Horseheads, NY and Patricia
Kaskie of Forest, MS; and nieces and nephews. Kenny was raised in the Catholic
faith and was a retired machinist with Corning Inc. Family and friends are
invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads today,
June 4, 2010, from 2-3:00 p.m., where his funeral will take place there at the
funeral home at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Christopher Linsler will officiate.

LEMUEL PACKARD, 78, of Horseheads RD 2, died Wednesday evening Feb. 7, 1951. Mr. Packard was a former resident of this place, Canton. He is survived by wife; daughters, Mrs. Arthur George of Cayuta, RD 1 N.Y., Mrs. Ernest Fields of Horseheads, N.Y. RD 1, sons Lawrence and Frank of Horseheads, Allen of Millport, Paul of Binghamton, Edward of Montour Falls; brothers Thomas of Powell, Joseph of Canton, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. PACKARD Margaret Rose Packard
Horseheads: Age 78, died Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Margaret was born in Sayre PA on August 4, 1933, a daughter of the late Francis R. and Elsie V. (Radley) Packard. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Margaret is survived by her sister Patricia L. Kaskie of Houston TX; brother-in-law Henry Cuesta of Horseheads; 9 nieces and 10 nephews. Margaret grew up in Corning and was a graduate of Corning Free Academy. She was a book binder for many years with Whitehall Printers in Elmira. Margaret had belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, 502 W. PADGETT Lester B. Sr.
Age 70, of Elmira, NY, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at his home. He was born
on March 30, 1938 in Blossburg, PA to the late Dean and Virginia (Ordway)
Padgett. Lester was predeceased by his daughter, Sheri Walker, brothers,
William Ordway and Baby Leonard and sister, Joyce Young. Survivors include his
wife, Wilma (Huskey) Padgett of Elmira; his children, Lester (Diane) Padgett
Jr. of Elmira Heights, Kelly Piatt of Elmira Heights and Randy (Beth) Padgett
of TN; brothers, Russell Padgett of Elmira, Roger Padgett of Odessa and Arthur
Padgett of Elmira; sisters, Jeanette (Everette) Henry of Maine and Beverly
Harrington of Elmira; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; along with several
nieces and nephews and very dear friend, Paula Kutz of Elmira. He retired from
Kennedy Valve after many years of service. Lester was a loving husband, father
and grandfather and was an avid bowler. Family and friends are invited to call
on Saturday, March 14th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the James D. Barrett
Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow there at 8 PM. Interment will take
place at the convenience of the family in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of

PAGET Anne V. (nee Paget) Murphy
A resident of Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Horseheads, NY died peacefully on Monday September 10, 2012, just two days before her 92nd Birthday. Born in Limerick Ireland, she came to The United States in 1946 as the war bride of her beloved husband the late John E. Murphy of Corning who died in 1986. Anne was also pre-deceased by her siblings: one brother and four sisters. Mrs. Murphy is survived by her son, Michael John Murphy (Life partner Max George) of Rockville, Maryland and her daughter Moira (William) Reichard of Depew, NY. Her only grandchild Amy Anne Martineau lives in Amherst, NY. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in America and England. Of Hilton Head, SC and formerly a longtime resident of Grand Central Ave. in
Horseheads died Friday Aug. 29, 2008 in Hilton Head, SC. She was predeceased by
her husband, Iraklis Grigoriou in 1987 and is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Chris and Cathy Grigoriou of Hilton Head, SC, Mike and Pat
Grigoriou also of Bluffton, SC; Grandchildren, Terri, Nikki, Chrysanthe,
Michael, Tina and Mandi; seven great-grandchildren; Sister and brother, Fanee
Foukaridis and Vaso Papadacos both of Athens, Greece; dear friend, Franny Wood
of Hilton Head, SC; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member
of Horseheads Historical Society and longtime resident of Grand Central Ave. in

Beefeater's in Horseheads, NY. Tina was pre-deceased by her parents and her

Age 77, of Horseheads. She was born May 12, 1931 in Towanda, PA, daughter of
the late William and Louise (Montgomery) Parks and died Saturday, February 14,
2009, at Bethany Manor. She was predeceased by her son, Frank; two sisters, one
brother and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her sons, Charles
(Brenda) of Horseheads, William (Beverly Cooper) of Erin and Richard of Elmira;
daughter, Beverly Reese of Elmira Heights; daughter-in-law, Emmy (Tony) Mucci
of Millport; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two sisters, one
brother and several nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, George C. Nichols of
TX. Mrs. Knoll was employed for many years at the lunch counter at Woolworth's
in Grand Central Plaza and later in housekeeping at Bethany Manor and

PARLETT - Luella A. Chapman, 51, of 372 W. First Street, died Saturday, June 5, 1943. She was the widow of Reuben Chapman. Survived by sons, Ransford and Clarence of Elmira and Lawrence , U. S. Army; daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Lewis of Horseheads, Mildred, Mable, Dorothy and Doris, all of Elmira; a sister, Mrs. Oscar Chapman of Elmira Heights; a brother George Parlett of Syracuse; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at the Van Buskirk funeral home Wednesday at 2 p. m. The Rev. Richard Cramer officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery. Died peacefully at her home in Horseheads, NY on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2011, at the age of 63. Penny was born November 14, 1947 in Elmira, a daughter of Wallace and M. Charlene Stermer Parrow. Penny was graduated from Horseheads High School and was a LPN at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Malcolm Turner in 2009; father, Wallace; brother, John Parrow; and grandson, Jeffery Turner; and brother-in-law, Leonardo Masciole. Penny is survived by her mother, Charlene Parrow of Horseheads; stepchildren, Steve (Susan) Turner and grandson, Michael of San Diego, CA, Sheree Lynn Coolbaugh and grandson, Joseph of Horseheads; sisters, Pamela Masciole of Horseheads, NY and Debra (Joseph) Horsey and son, Quinton Parrow of Horseheads; brother, Christopher (Darlene) Parrow of Wilmington, NC; three aunts, two uncles and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Shirley and Ashley. Eleanor V. (Eiklor) Of Candor, NY Age 80, died Thursday, October 4, 2001 at
Heritage Nursing Home in Athens, PA where she had been residing. She was born
in Candor, NY on September 28, 1921, the daughter of Peter and Charlotte
(Walton) Pass. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Griswold. Eleanor is
survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Klossner, Owego, NY; her three sons and
daughters-in-law, Bruce and Sarah (Mills) Eiklor, Washington, PA, LeRoy and
Carla Eiklor, Candor, John and Judy Eiklor, Conklin, NY; 13 grandchildren;
several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She worked at Endicott-Johnson for many years, and later worked for the Owego-Apalachin
School District, Tioga County Department of Social Services, and Tayton Truck
Lines in Horseheads, NY. Eleanor was also a member of the Straits Corners
Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte 17C
West, Owego, NY on Saturday, October 6, 2001, at 3:00 PM, with Ralph Kelsey,
Pastor of the Grace Bible Church, Candor, officiating. Burial will follow in

PASTORE LuAnn Wells
Age 55 of Horseheads, NY died on Sunday June 26, 2011 as the result of a motorcycle accident. LuAnn was born February 28, 1956 in Elmira, NY the daughter of James R. & Gloria Pastore May. She married her husband Kevin J. Wells on October 3, 1987 and they would have celebrated their 24th Wedding Anniversary on October 3, 2011. LuAnn was a Registered Nurse at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY and had worked at Three River Nursing Home in Corning, NY as well as for Family Services. She loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed shopping and needle crafts. LuAnn loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. She was pre-deceased by her father, James R. May, on June 12, 2000. LuAnn is survived by her loving and devoted husband Kevin J. Irene D. (Patterson) Age 82, of Grand Central Ave., Horseheads, NY, died
peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 19, 2006. Irene
was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Morris Run, PA, the daughter of the late John and
Anna (Forfberg) Patterson. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton German
Jr. in 1999; and son, Gary German in 1963; granddaughter, Heather German in
1993; great-grandson, Kristopher German in 2003. Irene is survived by her
daughter, Joanne (Gary) Thomas of Corning, NY; and sons, Darwin (Diane) German
of Horseheads, NY, Ronald (Pat) German of Wellsburg, NY, Harold German of
Horseheads, NY, Larry German of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Bryan German,
Ronald (Jennifer) German, Michael (Michelle) German, Jeremy (Amy Koen) German,
Samantha German, Garrison German, Bob (Crystal) Thomas, Kevin Thomas; seven
great-grandchildren; sister, Ina Slater of Elmira, NY; sister-in-law, Margaret

PAYNE Alton C. "Al"
Age 91, of Lodi, NY, died peacefully on Friday morning, November 16, 2007. Al
was born September 27, 1916, a son of the late Willet and Ruby Hawley Payne. He
retired from Bendix and served this country with the US Army during WWII. Al
was an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by brothers, Walter Payne and Merle
Payne; sister, Leola Robinson; and grandson, Dean Guyer. Survivors include his
wife of 66 years, Doris Knapp Payne; children: Donna Guyer of Cape Coral, FL,
Gary Payne of Erin, NY, and Ronald (Peggy) Payne of Inman, SC; grandchildren,
Douglas, Jennifer, Carolyn, and Christopher; four great-grandchildren; sisters,
Berdina Germaine and Evelyn Rittenhouse, both of Lake Placid, FL; and numerous

PEASE - ZAHORIAN, Irene U. (Pease)
Age 94, of Horseheads, died on Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Arnot Ogden Medical
Center. Irene was born Nov. 17, 1912 in Middlebury Center, PA, the daughter of
the late Joseph and Marian (Leach) Pease. She was predeceased by her husband,
Edward Zahorian in 1997. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Carrie Mosher
and Viola Kilburn; and brothers, Howard, Emory and Willard Pease. She is
survived by her nieces and nephews, Betty Lou (Henry) Healey of Lawrenceville,
PA, Nancy (Louis) Davis of Elmira Heights, NY, Evelyn (Earle) Catlin of
Horseheads, NY, Raymond (Betty) Pease of Horseheads, NY, Marion Greible of
Horseheads, NY, Isabelle (Arthur) Hamilton of Horseheads, NY, and Edward Wilson
of Lodi, NY. She is also survived by grandnieces and nephews, Linda, Patrick

PEER Verna G. Clark
Horseheads, NY died peacefully with her loving family by her side on October 24, 2012. Born November 13, 1924 she was the daughter of Lawrence and Thelma Peer and was a graduate of Horseheads High School. As a Christian, she was a past member of South Trenton NY Union Church, and also attended local churches, Calvary Baptist and Pine City Baptist. Verna was a loving "stay at home" wife, mother and grandmother who supported her family in all their endeavors. She enjoyed sewing, cooking/baking/canning and in later years working on crossword puzzles. Age 72, of Rosewood Rd., Horseheads, died Fri., Nov. 30, 2007, at the Manor at
Bethany Village. Ken was born Oct. 25, 1935 in Gillett, PA, son of the late
Kenneth and Louise (Frost) Pellor Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31
years, Joyce (Granger) Pellor; son, Douglas (Susan) Pellor; daughter, Dawn
Pellor; grandchildren, Amanda and Kayla, all of Elmira, NY; brothers and
sisters, Beverly Henderson of Sunnyvale, CA, John (Colleen) Pellor of Terrell,
NC, Roger Pellor of San Jose, CA, Mary (John) Deihs of Lebanon, MO, Gary
(Darlene) Pellor of Galt, GA; mother-in-law, Kathleen Granger of Elmira
Heights, NY; sister-in-law, Eileen (John) Reib of Elmira Heights, NY;
brother-in-law, Gary (Pauline) Granger of Corning, NY; many loving nieces and
nephews. He was also predeceased by a son, Kenneth F. Pellor in 1975; and
father-in-law, Paul Granger in 1991. Ken was a NYS Corrections Officer working
in the Monterey Facility until his retirement in 2000, 26 years as a Journeyman/pressman
with Moore Business Forms and also with Zeiser Wilbert Vault Company in Elmira.
He attended Pine Valley United Methodist Church, was a veteran of the US Army,
serving during the Korean War, an avid bowler and hunter. Ken was a proud
Harley owner and active motorcycle rider for over 40 years, a member of the AMA

Age 76, of Biltmore Dr., Horseheads, and formerly of Westinghouse Rd. and
Brookside Cir. in Elmira, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 26., 2007. Joe was
predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice Pelot in 1995 and his second wife,
Josephine Benjamin-Pelot in 2007. His surviving family include his sons, Rick
(Janet) Pelot of Pittsburgh, PA, Gary (Laurie) Pelot of Greenville, SC, Tom
(Maggie) Pelot of Horseheads, NY; granddaughters, Stephanie, Lindsay, and Sarah

Age 93, of Townley Hill Rd., Horseheads, NY, died Sat., Mar. 8, 2008. He is

Bill was predeceased by his parents, William and Anna Petrasek; brother and
sisters, Olga Eberle and Hermina (Stan) Benson, Ulrich Petrasek, longtime companion
and fiancée, Helma Tudi. Bill was a Corning Inc. retiree, having worked in the
Steuben factory for many years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in
WWII, member of American Legion and Soaring Eagles Polka Club. Family and

PERRY Charles K. "Chuck" Age 62 Of Horseheads, NY, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 10, 2006 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 22, 1944 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Van C. Perry, who died in 1972, and Frances R. Fundurulic, who survives him. Charles married Carol L. Kilmer in 1964; she died in 1992. Along with his mother, Charles is survived by his wife, Patricia Bellinger-Perry, who he married in 1994; also survived by children, Craig G. (Rebecca) Perry of Elmira, NY, Curt G. (Tanya) Perry of Elmira, NY, and Cristen (Michael) Kwiatkowski of North Carolina; stepchild, Elizabeth L. Bellinger of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Mitchell V. and Morgan R. Perry of Elmira; brothers, Scott (Bonnie) Perry and Joel Perry, all of Elmira Heights, NY. Charles was a 1962 graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School, Elmira Heights, NY. He worked at Shepard Niles, Montour Falls, NY, and LePrino Foods, Waverly, NY. He had owned and operated CP CADD Services and worked at Cameron Fabrications of Horseheads, NY. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed watching the "METS" and enjoyed sharing time and conversation with his many neighbors, who are dear friends to Charles and Patricia. He will be deeply missed by all who shared a part in his life. It was Charles' request that there be no calling hours. PERSONIUS Roger J. Formerly of Westinghouse Rd., Horseheads, NY, died on Monday, September 25, 2006, at Arnot Odgen Medical Center. Roger was born in Ithaca, NY on October 6, 1920, the son of the late Roger A. and Florence Personius. After 56 years of marriage he was predeceased by his wife, Freida Cortright, on June 13, 1999. Age 51 of Chalfont, PA formerly of Horseheads, NY died on Tuesday July 15, 2008
with his loving family at his side after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with Lou
Gehrig's Disease. Norm worked from home for the last 1 ½ years, even with a tremendous
amount of difficulty, but was still determined to hang on and live life as
positively as possible. Norm was born June 28, 1957 in Elmira, NY the son of
Arland and Beverly Wheeler Phillips. He was a graduate of Horseheads High
School Class of 1975 and attended Delhi University. Until recently he was a
Computer Scientist Engineer for Boeing Aircraft. Norm is survived by his his
wife of 19 years Cynthia M. Butler Phillips and their son Christopher at home;
his daughter and son-in-law: Kira & Rob Gray and two lovely grandchildren
Ashton and Samantha Gray of Dallas, Texas; loving parents: Arland & Beverly
Phillips of Horseheads, NY; two very devoted sisters and brother-in-law:
JoEllen Malinowski of Horseheads, NY and Allison & Ken Brooks of Cypress,

2007. Pick was born Sept. 7, 1927 in Elmira Heights, NY, the son of Frank and
Myrtle (Hodge) Pickering. Clair was predeceased by his daughter, Gail in 1973;
and recently Joan (Waters) Pickering. Her surviving family includes her
daughter and son-in-law, Patricia (David) Barrows of Toledo, OH; grandchildren,

PIECUCH - SAWESTER, Genevieve "Jean" (Peicuch)
Age 89, of Bush Avenue, Horseheads, NY, and formerly a long time resident of
Beaver Falls, PA, was born Oct. 21, 1919, the daughter of the late Jon &
Julia (Bega) Piecuch and died on Monday, March 2, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center (Skilled Nursing Floor – 4D) where she received professional
care from their entire staff. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband of
69 years, Joseph, on December 16, 2008. Genevieve is survived by her son, Barry
and daughter-in-law, Joán of Horseheads; her grandson, Ed (Teresa); her great
grandchildren, Berkley and Nicholas all of Trumansburg, NY; and her many
friends, especially Donald and Janice Temple of Horseheads. In addition to her
parents and her husband, Joseph, Genevieve was predeceased by two brothers, and
one sister, along with her grandson, LCPL Michael (USMC) and Michael's mother,
June. Genevieve, a sewing instructor, worked at the Singer Store in Beaver
Falls for many years prior to her and her husband's move to New York.

POET John H.
Retired Horseheads Teacher
Of Lowman, NY, entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2007 at the age of 62
after an extended illness. John was born in York, PA, the son of John Roy and
Edna Schiding Poet, and is survived by his devoted wife, Susan, and sons, Ryan
(Holly) and Justin (Heather). John was a graduate of Shippensburg University,
where he managed the baseball and wrestling teams and was an announcer on the
school radio station. John retired from the Horseheads Central School District
in 1999, where he taught business subjects for 33 years. He was very active in
the Horseheads Teachers Association, serving as secretary, grievance chairman
and, for many years, president. Enjoying live theater, John performed in many
Elmira Little Theater productions and served on the board of directors. He also
directed several plays for the Greenroom Players of Horseheads High School.
John loved sports, especially baseball (he was a lifelong Yankees fan), and
coached teams in the Horseheads Little League for 20 years. He worked as a
local football official, as well as a softball and baseball umpire. For more
than 35 years, John was a part of the Horseheads Athletic Program. More
recently he worked as the "Voice of the Blue Raiders" and loved to
intone "Time out, Horseheads!" John will undoubtedly be remembered
for his sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents and, very
recently, by his brother, Robert. The family will welcome relatives and friends
to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Route 13, Horseheads, NY,
607-739-2035, on Friday, June 22, 2007, from 4-8 p.m. John's service will be

POLIZZI Cosimo
83 years old, of Cocoa Beach, FL and Horseheads, NY, died on Tuesday, August
26, 2008. Mr. Polizzi was born in Palermo, Sicily on October 1, 1923, the son
of Damiano Polizzi and Rosa Randazzo Polizzi. He emigrated to America in the
late 1940s and opened Academy Seafood Market on Broadway in upper Manhattan,
NYC. Mr. Polizzi worked tirelessly for over 40 years at the Market providing
his customers with the freshest seafood in upper Manhattan. He was married for
45 years to Camilla Gerbino Polizzi until her death in 1998. Mr. Polizzi is
survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rosette and Michael Lehmann of
Horseheads NY; grandchildren, Rachel (Jerry) Mirando, Michael Lehmann II and
Sean Lehmann; great-grand-daughter, Sophia Rose Mirando; brothers, Salvatore
Polizzi of Queens NY, Marco (Philomena) Polizzi of Fair Lawn, NJ, and Cesare
Polizzi of Palermo, Sicily. He is also predeceased by his brothers, Salvatore
Polizzi, who died at the age of 4, Giovanni Polizzi; and sister, Rosa Aiello.

Ada (Preston) Age 93, of Clifton Springs and formerly of William Lane,
Horseheads, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at the Clifton Springs Hospital and
Clinic Rehab Center. Mrs. Courtright was predeceased by her husband of 64
years, F. Perry Courtright, on December 26, 2002. Surviving are her daughter
and son, Janice "Jan" DeJager of Fairport, NY, James and Barbara
Courtright of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren, Jeanelle DeJager (Tim) Paul,
Joel (Mary) DeJager, Judi DeJager, (Bryan) Bortman, Timothy (Lisa) Courtright,
Deborah Courtright, and Pam Courtright; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Art
(Arlene) Preston, Herm (Florence) Preston and sister, Faith Miles; nieces,
nephews and several cousins and many close and caring friends. Ada was
predeceased by her brother-in-law, Raymond Courtright; sister-in-law, Marian
Freeman; and son-in-law, R. John DeJager; brother-in-law, Richard Miles. Perry
and Ada were both devoted members of the Horseheads First Baptist Church. She
was a retired Teacher from Horseheads Central School District, having taught

78, of 715 Sayre St. Horseheads, NY, died Sunday morning, August 5, 2007 at St.
Joseph's Hospital. Born in Nelson, PA on January 12, 1929, Gene was the son of
Clifford & Dorothy Chilson Price. He is survived by his wife of 52 years
Lorraine Baker Price and their children, Gene Rockwell Price, Pennellville, NY;
Cynthia Price, Horseheads, NY; Loree & Dan McOwen Dryden, NY; and Holly
& Paul Yanowiak, Rochester, NY and his grandchildren, Kayla Price, Matthew
Outen, Caitlin Outen, Chelsea Yanowiak, Bailey McOwen and Edward McOwen. Also
survived by, sister-in-law, Priscilla Price, Nelson, PA; sister-in-law and
brother-in-law, Karen and Don Irwin, Charlotte, NC and brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Donald and Joann Killen, Huntington, IN; as well as many loving
nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by a
brother, Keith Price and a sister, Constance "Connie" Kreisler. He
will be remembered as a loving husband, father and caring son-in-law. Gene
started his career as a glass blower at Corning Inc. and eventually left to
start his own business, the Unicorn Glass Co. He was an avid sportsman who
enjoyed golf, bowling and hunting. He served his country in Korea in the United
States Army. He was a long time member of the Horseheads First Presbyterian
Church, Horseheads Elks and The American Legion. The family would like to
express appreciation for the wonderful care he received from all the staff at
St. Joseph's Hospital. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Helena R. Age 78 of Elmira, NY died on Monday August 28, 2006 at The Chemung
County Nursing Facility. Helena was born January 9, 1928 in Elmira, NY the
daughter of the late Edward and Lily Thompson Price. She was a retired mail
sorter at Capabilities, Inc. in Elmira, NY. Helena was pre-deceased by her
husband Leonard Nichols. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters
Archie, Gordon, Dorothy, Ethel, Francis, and Lucille. Mrs. Nichols is survived

PRICE Henry J. Sr. A resident of Fairway Ave. and a much loved family man died on Thursday morning, January 19, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 54. Henry was born on January 18, 1952 in Elmira, NY. He married his best friend, Sherry Lee Doane on September 23, 1974. Henry was a self-employed auto mechanic whose many interest included auto repair, painting and detailing. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing. A carpenter, Henry enjoyed caring for the home he built and cherished being surrounded by his large loving family who survive him. Loretta J. Age 97 formerly of 3056 Lake Road Horseheads, NY died peacefully on
February 20, 2007 at Elcor Health Services in Horseheads, NY. Loretta was born
on February 20, 1910 in Horseheads, NY the daughter of the late Edward Thomas
and Lillie A. Thompson Price. Mrs. Butler was a retired machinist from
Remington Rand in Elmira, NY and she also worked at the Ideal Sandwich Shop.
She was a member of the Horseheads Historical Society. She was pre-deceased by
her husband Alpha Butler; son Richard Butler and twelve brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her sons and daughters and son-in-law: Arthur
Butler; Albert Butler; Delphine Merrone; Norma and Al Curren all of Horseheads,
NY and Clarabelle Hayden of Waverly, NY; several grandchildren, great

PUTMAN DeRoy Lawton "Putt"
Age 80 of Horseheads, NY died on Sunday August 3, 2008 at the Arnot Ogden
Medical Center in Elmira, NY. DeRoy was born on September 22, 1927 in
Wellsboro, PA the son of the late Allen and Lorena Lawton Putman. He was a
Veteran of the post WWII Occupation serving his country with the U.S. Army and
achieving the rank of Captain in the Army Reserve. Mr. Putman was a retired
Service Foreman for the NY Telephone Company in Elmira, NY where he worked for
30 years. DeRoy married his wife Elizabeth Smith Putman on August 15, 1948 and
they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on August 15, 2008.
Putt was a life member of the Horseheads Elks BPOE Lodge #2297 and a former
member of the Masonic Order in Wellsboro, PA. Mr. Putman was a loving and
caring man who was very proud of his family and cherished all the time spent
with them. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.
Putt had a gift of working with his hands, fixing things and enjoyed
woodworking. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister Arlene Wetherbee.
Mr. Putman is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Smith Putman; son and
daughter-in-law: Thomas and Marilyn Putman of Hamburg, NY; daughters and
sons-in-law: Shari and Mark Herrick of Wellsboro, PA; Barbara and Kirk
Vieselmeyer of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Erin and Jeff Winston; Alan

QUACKENBUSH Charles L. Jr.
Age 70, of Arnold Ave., Horseheads, died peacefully at home surrounded by his
family on July 4th, 2007. Charles was born Feb 13, 1937 in Corning, NY, the son
to the late Charles and Marjorie (Comfort) Quackenbush Sr. His surviving family
includes his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Scotty) Hallett of Elmira, NY,
Nancy (Dennis) Cole of Odessa, NY, Melissa (Frank) Williamee of Corning, NY;
son, Kevin Quackenbush of NY. Charlie is also survived by several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many other extended family members, past
co-workers, tavern patrons, and friends. Charlie was retired from Dresser Rand
in Corning, where he was a forklift operator for over 40 years. In addition, he
was the owner and proprietor of the former Odessa House and the Midway Tavern
in Elmira Heights. He was also a member of the Corning Moose Lodge #274. Family
and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 So. Main St.,
Horseheads, on Friday, July 6, 2007, from 1-4:00 p.m. His service will take

Annette QUINN, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Quinn of Horseheads R. D. 3, died Saturday, December 20, 1958.
